DemandTec Deploys Latest Update to On-Demand Optimization Suite

SAN CARLOS, Calif., July 10 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — DemandTec, Inc. , a leading provider of on-demand optimization solutions for retailers and consumer products manufacturers, today announced that the latest update to its software-as-a-service suite has been deployed and is currently being used by all customers. The last several DemandTec software releases feature enhancements to all of the software services in the DemandTec Lifecycle Price Optimization(TM) and DemandTec End-to-End Promotion Management(TM) solutions, including Everyday Price Optimization, Everyday Price Management, Promotion Planning & Optimization, Markdown optimization and Deal Management.
The DemandTec suite of software services is used by retailers and consumer products manufacturers to optimize prices, promotions and other business decisions, and to collaborate more effectively with their respective trading partners.

More than 100 feature enhancements designed to extend business processes and improve performance and usability have been added over the last several software releases. Major features include:
— Tiered pricing — allows retailers to optimize volume-based discounts
for regularly priced items providing shoppers greater value when they
purchase larger quantities.
— Improvements to price maintenance triggers — enables retailers to
streamline the ongoing, time-intensive process of managing vendor cost
changes and competitor price changes while maintaining a cohesive
pricing strategy and compliance with pricing rules.
— Addition of VAT/GST and vignette tax support for promotions — enables
multi-national retailers to effectively configure taxation by country
and accurately model and forecast demand and profitability in both
promotion planning and price optimization processes.
— New configurable promotion types and vehicles — provides retailers and
manufacturers with the ability to fully configure and model specific
promotion types and merchandising support vehicles used, including full
support for all coupon and mail-in rebate types.
— Improved use of historical context when predicting promotions –
enables consumer products manufacturers to better forecast promotion
plans without knowing what competitors will do.
— “Lights-out” markdown optimization — dramatically improves the process
of re-optimizing clearance pricing on a weekly basis by enabling the
Markdown optimization system to automatically generate and optimize
markdown plans and scenarios as data is loaded over a weekend,
providing users with forecasted results to review on Monday morning.
Rules and triggers to control the process are fully configurable by the
retailer in the user interface.

These enhancements are in addition to the recently announced introduction of Assortment Optimization, the newest DemandTec software service, which enables retailers to determine which items should be stocked based on the behavior of customers that shop their stores, on factors in the competitive marketplace and on a quantified understanding of whether items are duplicative or truly provide variety and add incremental sales and profit to the category.
Also previously announced as a new software service available on the DemandTec TradePoint Network(TM), Funds Tracker provides consumer products manufacturers with more immediate and accurate visibility to available trade funds as performance-based deals are executing, enabling them to maximize the use of total available funds within a planning period.
