The National Underground Railroad Freedom Center Launches National Video Contest
CINCINNATI, June 25 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — The National Underground Railroad Freedom Center is hosting a national video contest for college students on the subject of Freedom.
Many people around the globe are denied essential freedoms such as equal opportunity and basic human rights. Through this contest, the Freedom Center aims to raise awareness of these and other important areas requiring action in order to secure the promises of freedom for everyone, today. It is the Freedom Center’s latest innovation that extends its mission beyond the walls to challenge and inspire a vibrant generation of “digital natives” to take courageous steps for freedom today.
Teams of college students across the United States can create, edit and submit a short video (three minutes or less) expressing the qualities, importance and impact of freedom in their lives today. At least one mention of the phrase “Freedom is…” must be included in the video.
Team registration is now open and must be completed by noon EDT on Sunday, July 6, 2008. All videos must be created and submitted by noon EDT on July 13, 2008 to be considered for judging. contest winners will be announced the week of July 21.
The winning video will be showcased on August 7, 2008 at the 2008 Higher Education Leadership Summit reception, hosted at the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center in Cincinnati, Ohio. A representative of the winning team will be invited to attend the event.
All accepted videos may be showcased on Apple’s Student Gallery, Apple Learning Interchange, the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center website and museum, and other related Apple and Freedom Center websites.
